There is a world of opportunity for the NHL betting enthusiast here, both with NHL futures bets and in-game or series prediction bets. Most bookmakers offer futures odds on NHL conference champions, along with the Stanley Cup champion. They fluctuate a lot, usually in tandem with the official league standings, but generally, the preseason. The NHL playoff future odds for the Stanley Cup can be wagered on before the season begins and throughout the season. When the postseason begins, the Stanley Cup Odds are only given to the 16 teams that have clinched a spot in the NHL playoffs. Those betting odds are given to eight teams in both the Eastern and Western Conference.
DraftKings opens 2021 NHL Point Totals
The 2021 NHL regular season is starting on Wednesday Jan. 13 and this year's campaign will be a 56-game schedule, opposed to 82 games.
The sportsbook at DraftKings took notice of the news and opened their NHL Point Totals betting market for all 31 teams in the league.
2021 NHL Contenders
- Colorado Avalanche 79.5
- Vegas Golden Knights 78.5
- Tampa Bay Lightning 76.5
- Boston Bruins 73.5
Of the above four teams, the Tampa Bay Lightning were the only one to participate in last year's NHL Stanley Cup Final as they defeated the Dallas Stars at the NHL Bubble from Edmonton, Alberta.
