Buffalo converted a fake punt on its second drive. Facing a fourth-and-five, the Bills gave a direct snap to safety Jaquan Johnson, who threw to a wide open Siran Neal for 13 yards. New England didn't have a player line up on Neal, who caught the pass uncovered along the right sideline. Buffalo went for on the following fourth-and-1 and Allen kept it for a 22-yard run. On the next play, Allen threw to running back Taiwan Jones in the end zone but Jones dropped the pass. Rookie running back Zack Moss bulled ahead for 11 yards up the middle and defensive tackle Adam Butler jumped offsides for the second time of the game, negating an interception by cornerback J. C.
